redux.com is a good idea but…
I’m checking out http://redux.com which among other stuff (like sharing etc; which I’m not so interested in) allows you to have a better view of the media and hyper-links you receive in your twitter and Facebook streams every day.
This is a very good idea actually. And the UI is quite nice looking etc. So, overall redux.com is a nice thing. But there is so much missing in there I really doubt if I’m going to keep using it.
- First of all I have more than one twitter account. I should be able to follow all my Twitter accounts and Facebook Fan Pages etc.
- I also should be able to not only filter by resource type (video, image, hyper-link) but also by source (i.e who posted this).
- Another thing the can be added there (should be added actually) is filtering by tag. Twitter updates have hash-tags and by god they are the only thing that Twitter has that makes it useful for following anything that does not have a twitter account.
- Last but not least is RSS/Atom feeds. It would be extremely cool (and useful) to be able to add a RSS feed to follow in there. It would give me just the media and hyper-links found in the feed organized in the redux way.
- To add to this last point about RSS I need to say that it would give a whole new meaning to redux Groups too. I’d love to be able to create a group, (let people share and blah blah) and also be able to add a few feeds to the group so that group members can see the resources (media & hyper-links) from the feeds the admin adds to the group and share them etc. Hot stuff…
If the guys at redux don’t do these things asap then somebody else will. And if nobody else does it, then I will; cause I’ve been thinking about a thing like that for over a year now. Unfortunately it has been waiting for me to finish my other (much simpler I must admit) side-project: RSS Graffiti.
The Internet is overall moving very fast alright, but it’s moving impressively slow if you are looking at the direction I’d like to see it go.
