Commented on “Mashable - The Social Media Guide”

Google’s “Facebook style move” was initially Orkut. Buzz is a “Twitter style move”. I think that basically, at the moment, Google does not seem to have much clue of what they’re doing. The funny thing about the battle for the social landscape is that (although we probably don’t know the outcome yet) it somehow seems like history is rewriting itself quite too fast this time. Just like Google appeared out of nowhere 10 years ago and stormed in through the search landscape, I think we are seeing Facebook defining the battle scene this time around. Although Google has technology and engineering far superior to Facebook’s and should have the ability to win on the social battlefield, so did Microsoft have (and still has) technology far superior to Google’s but has a hard time surviving (let alone winning) in the battlefield that Google has being shaping. It’s interesting. We’ll see…
